A live HUD you can read in the snow
Big numbers on a dark background, made for a quick glance on the slope: max, average run and current speed, run distance and vertical, ascent, current altitude with max and min, run count, slope and duration.
- Background GPS: keeps recording with the screen locked and the phone in your pocket
- If the app closes mid-day, the recording comes back paused the next time you open it, with every point kept
- Snowboard or ski, km/h or mph, with one tap
Runs and lifts, separated automatically
The app classifies every stretch of the day as a run down the snow or a ride up the lift. Run vertical, distance and time count only real runs, so lift lines and slips don't inflate your numbers.
- A run counts from 40 m of vertical drop and 150 m of distance
- GPS spikes above 200 km/h are discarded
- Every run numbered on the map, from start to finish
Speed and altitude on the same chart
Open a day to see speed and altitude on the same timeline. Drag your finger and the cursor shows both values at that moment, from the top of the lift to the bottom of the run.
Your day's track on the map
Standard map, satellite or track only, colored by speed: green under 30 km/h, orange up to 50 and red above. Every run has a start and a finish marker.
Every day saved in your season
The history shows the season with snow days, total vertical and top speed, and every day is numbered (Day 3 · 2026). Seasons follow the hemisphere: 2025/2026 in the North, from September to August, and 2026 in the South.
Photos and notes for each day
Keep up to 10 photos per day, give the day a title and note the ski resort and a 1 to 5 star rating.
Your whole day on one map
Lifts show up as straight lines and runs with every turn, colored by the speed of each stretch. From the map, one tap opens the day's speed and altitude charts.
- Green, orange and red by speed
- Numbered markers at the start and finish of every run
- Standard map, satellite or track only
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a watch or any gear?
No. Hobbio uses only your phone's GPS, which keeps recording with the screen locked in your jacket pocket until you finish the day.
Does it work for skiing too?
Yes. The same recorder works for snowboarding and alpine skiing: just switch the mode on the HUD.
What if there's no signal at the top of the mountain?
GPS works without internet. When you finish, the day is saved on your phone before uploading and goes up once you're back online: tap save again or open the recorder.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. The recorder, charts, map and history are free on iPhone and Android.
Charge your phone and catch the lift.
Download Hobbio, open the Snowboarding or Skiing hobby and tap Record a snow day. Free on iPhone and Android.
