Challenges
Create a group in the Gym hobby (or Calisthenics, CrossFit, Functional), invite anyone by link and log workouts: friends, family, coworkers, everyone's in. There is no limit on participants, and the ranking closes every week, month and year with a trophy board.
- Public or private groups, invited by link or from the "Join a group" list
- Weekly, monthly and yearly rankings with accumulated wins and a points statement per person
- Monday podium: the app announces who closed the week in 1st
Teams and pairs
Prefer playing as a team? Create pairs or teams inside the hobby and compete team against team, ideal for the company or gym challenge. Whoever runs the group sets the rules on the Group rules screen.
Flexible scoring
Seven scoring systems for a challenge your way. Start with the simplest (active days) or pick the metric that matters to the group.
Hustle points
An activity-based points system, on the same table GymRats uses, to compare different workouts fairly: gym, running, cycling, swimming, martial arts, functional, hiking and more. Watch workouts and manual check-ins land in the same account, without counting the same workout twice.
- Gym: 1 point every 6.3 minutes
- Running: 1 point every 0.68 km
- Walking: 1 point every 0.97 km
- Cycling: 1 point every 5 minutes
- Swimming: 1 point every 3.3 minutes
- Martial arts: 1 point every 3.8 minutes
13 more categories (functional, core, cardio, racket, climbing, snow…) with the rule shown in every check-in statement.
Chat
Real-time group chat to plan the workout, tease whoever is behind in the ranking and celebrate someone's PR.
Apple Watch and Health Connect
Workouts recorded on Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, Fitbit, Mi Fitness or Garmin enter the challenge on their own through Apple Health or Health Connect, with real duration and distance. Without a watch, a manual check-in is one tap.
Set-by-set logging with a weekly program
Answer a short questionnaire and get a tailored weekly program (Full Body, Upper/Lower or Push/Pull/Legs) or choose from 39 ready-made routines in 9 categories. Log every set with load, reps and rest, see the "Previous" column from your last session and let the app flag your personal records and estimated 1RM across more than 880 illustrated exercises.
Performance report with Hobbio AI
The challenge ends, the progress goes on: the Performance screen compares weight, BMI, body fat, lean mass and VO₂ max between two dates, and the PDF or Markdown report brings together workouts, consistency, heart, sleep and nutrition for the period. Hobbio AI reads it all and suggests your next training block, right in the app.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can join a challenge?
There is no limit. Groups can be public or private and the invite goes by link; anyone with friends in the group also finds it under "Join a group".
How does the app prevent fake check-ins?
The group admin picks the verification in the rules: simple check-in or photo with the pose of the day. Workouts from a watch carry real duration and distance and replace any manual check-in that overlaps the same time.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Manual check-ins and set-by-set logging work with just your phone. With an Apple Watch or any watch that writes to Health Connect, workouts come in on their own.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Groups, challenges, rankings, chat, the training program, the exercise catalog, the performance report and Hobbio AI are free.
Call the crew and start the challenge.
Get Hobbio, create the Gym group and send the link. Free on iPhone and Android.
Social
Every check-in can carry a photo or video of the workout and the pose of the day; the hobby feed gets the posts, comments and cheers from the crew. The early birds and the night owls show up in the group stats.
